With new-comer Etherik (a.o. Wheel of Smoke, The Rivercrest) on bass, Grant Moff Tarkin refound the solidarity that characterized their early years. The basic tracks were recorded live, and also the arrangements try to capture the energy Grant Moff Tarkin displays on stage. The teneous sound of Quanah’s Hunting Day makes place for a thicker and warmer timbre. The result is an album in which light and dark moments constantly alternate, and in which acousic bluessongs end up in ritual jams.
Long Lost Son is Grant Moff Tarkin’s exploration of the possibilities of the human spirit to transcend the restrictions of space, time and species. Prehistorical times take place tomorrow, the boundaries between human and animal fade, and the train to Heathrow departs in the Caribbean. Everyday events gain in importance by placing them in a mythical perspective. Nothing is true, everything is permitted.
